Go direct to a solicitor
Solicitors handle most claims and will ensure you are properly represented and receive the full value for your claim. But which solicitor is best? You need to ask:
- Does my High Street solicitor handle personal injury work?
- Are they experienced in my type of claim?
- Will there be a charge?
- Will they give me the level of personal service I need?
- What happens if they reject my claim?

Make the claim yourself
Not recommended unless you have specialist knowledge. It can be a complex process and defendants will almost certainly have access to their own specialist lawyers. There is no need to put yourself at a disadvantage when you can obtain professional help and advice at no cost to you.

Use a solicitor appointed by your insurers
(usually for road traffic accidents).
Be aware that you may be expected to complete a considerable amount of paperwork and are unlikely to receive face-to-face advice.
Please remember, there is NO OBLIGATION to use a law firm nominated by your insurers. YOU HAVE COMPLETE FREEDOM OF CHOICE IN THIS MATTER.

Find a claim company from TV or newspaper advertising
Again you need to exercise caution, ensuring that you will receive a personal service and that there will be no charges. |
